The Garden is 5 weeks today!

Full width garden!

Full width garden!

We’re in a holding pattern it seems… Everything has shot up and now all of the plants are hopefully working on making their fruit or the fruit is growing.  Many things have flowers – tons of tomato flowers on each plant.  All of the peppers (bell and pimiento) have flowers, as do most of the bean plants.  The cukes and zukes are the only ones that are not producing flowers yet, but they have a longer time to do that… their leaves and the plants in general are growing huge though. The cukes are starting to get the little curly-q strings on the plant, so I guess that’s a good sign too!

Bean Blossoms

Purple Bean Blossoms

I think it’s pretty obvious when looking closely at the bean blossoms why there is a festival named The Bill Monroe Bean Blossom Festival.  They’re beautiful!  I guess I’ve never seen bean blossoms before, or something, but the color of purple that they are is fascinating!

The tomato plants themselves seemingly add on a new baby tomato or 5 every day… they’re too small to take pics of, but the bigger ones should be ready in a week or so.  Actually, I have no idea how long.  The large better boy looks like it’s getting a hint of color on it, but I think that’s more wishful thinking on my part.  I”m ok with that! 🙂  Here’s some neat pics of the maters:

Tomato cluster. The biggest, which is the one kinda in the center is the original tomato to the plant... hard to see I realize.

Here’s a picture of the roma plant too.  The plant itself is so thick, I’m a little concerned about it choking itself out.  Hopefully the tomatoes will be bright red, because it’s hard to see through all of the leaves!

And of course the obligatory zucchini plant shot.  This is the one that’s in front of the roma as opposed to the one between the two tomato plants…

there is evidence of a zucch flower on this plant... just not gonna count my flowers before they bloom! :)

And here’s my lettuce, getting more and more of a actual head shape!

And finally, here is the pepper corner.  The tall one is the pimiento, the others are the bells… the tall plants on the right side of the picture are the sunflowers… which are now close to 2-2.5 feet tall.  Then the plants in the foreground of the pic are the bean bushes.  And there is my sweet Snuffy dog, who turns 9 this month!

Peppers, Beans and Sunflowers! Oh my!

Well, more as it comes, I suppose.  Check back in a week… maybe I’ll be eating something soon!
